3 AND 4 YEAR OLD JIU-JITSU PROGRAM
Most parents who bring a 3 or 4 year old to Guerrilla Jiu-Jitsu San Jose have the same question: is my child actually ready for this? The answer is yes. If they are potty trained and can follow basic direction, they are ready.
Our Super Guerrillas preschool jiu-jitsu program is designed specifically for ages 3 and 4. Thirty minutes of structured, age-appropriate Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu that builds coordination, focus, and confidence in an environment that is safe, fun, and built for where toddlers actually are developmentally. Taught by instructors who know the difference between managing little kids and genuinely developing them.
WHAT 3 AND 4 YEAR OLDS LEARN
START WITH THE BASICS AND THE FUN!
Our 3 and 4 year old Super Guerrilla Jiu-Jitsu program pairs games and interactive drills that reinforce the “daily skill,” such as “balance” or “control” with 6 essential concepts for starting Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ). This program will create a solid foundation and better understanding of jiu-jitsu needed for the 5 to 7 year old program.
Guard Retention:
Young students learn to maintain strong positions by developing fundamental concepts like framing, hip escapes, and the concept of realigning their guard. These skills are key for effective defense and transitioning between positions.
Dominant Positions:
Students will learn to improve their positioning from dominant positions such as the mount, side control, and back control. Pinning techniques that control the shoulder and hip lines are emphasized.
Passing Guard:
The curriculum teaches the essential skills of guard passing, starting with simple techniques like Toreando and knee cuts, which are gradually expanded into more advanced strategies.
Back Control:
Kids develop an understanding of how to keep their chest glued to the back using their arms and hooks.
Takedowns:
Kids are introduced to basic wrestling stances and takedown techniques like the double leg.
Escapes:
Kids are introduced to the concept of escaping bad positions using jiu-jitsu techniques.
